Our country post independence underwent many partitions and fragmentations and every time it happened, many heartbreaking tales of separations, insecurities and uncertainties emerged. Every time a bill was passed declaring partition, many hearts sank. The very thought of leaving behind everything; land, property, loved ones and migrating to a different country seemed appalling to many. But the fact is that it happened and happened several times and with this gruesome partition at its backdrop many unusual sagas of love and romance were weaved. One such tale is the tale of love between Rakesh and Lolita. Their love blossomed amid the chaos and uncertainties of partition and then destiny played its own unique role to unite these estranged lovers many years later.
Lolita and Rakesh were residing in East Pakistan prior to partition. East Pakistan is none other than our neighbor ‘Bangladesh’. They both were Hindus and like all other Hindus at that time, were subject to hatred, life risk and blood thirsty bitterness. The fire of communal riots broke out and consumed villages after villages. Friends became foes in just no time; humanity got defeated each minute. But as an antithesis to these hateful occurrences, many great love stories too took birth during this time just like a lotus flower that often blooms from the foul smelling puddle
